Under the Home Battery Scheme (HBS), the SA Gov will provide 40,000 South Australian homes with subsidies up to $6,000 each for installing battery storage on their homes.

The Home Battery Scheme subsidy for Energy Concession Holders is $600 per kWh of battery storage installed (capped at $6,000).

The Home Battery Scheme subsidy for all other households is $500 per kWh of battery storage installed (capped at $6,000).

Low interest finance will be available from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) if customers would like to add solar to their battery installation.

From 1st January 2019, the SA Home Battery Scheme will be opened up to a broader selection of approved battery systems.

In order for customers to be eligible for the rebate, their installation company must be registered with the SA Gov as an official System Provider, and must be a Clean Energy Council Approved Solar Retailer.

Off-Grid Energy Australia is an Approved System Provider and a CEC Approved Solar Retailer. Look for these logos when researching your installer:

The SA Gov Home Battery Scheme subsidies are expected to reduce over time.

Why do you use the name off grid when you need to be attached to the grid ? It’s confusing for folk searching for systems totally off grid as there is no power supply from the grid available to us.

      Hi Lesley,

Totally off grid systems are our speciality, and make up a majority of the work we do (we’ve installed hundreds of off grid systems across Australia). We do a little bit of grid connected battery storage as well, mainly using the same technology as our off grid systems.

We’ve provided information on this particular battery rebate because we’re part of the scheme, and it is a shame that (as you mentioned) it’s not applicable to off grid systems. Rest assured if there are any off grid rebates announced in future, we will be sure to put up that info as well.

If you have no grid connection and need an off grid power system, we can certainly help.

      Thanks
      Emily
