Reducing Electricity Costs with Solar and Batteries
Snowy Mountains family gets relief from electricity bills with a solar and battery system
Objectives & Site Considerations:
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, The client’s daughter and her family moved back into their home with them in the Snowy Mountains. With three generations now living under one roof, working from home, and home-schooling their grandchildren, they wanted some relief from increasing electricity costs.
The original ground-mounted solar framing footings needed to be changed after it was determined that the soil type was too rocky. A concrete slab was then determined to be the most suitable option.
Load Analysis:
Average summer demand: 50kWh
Average winter demand: 65kWh
System Design:
- Tesla Powerwall 2 batteries (27kWh)
- Trina Solar panels (10.56kW)
- Fronius Primo 8.2 solar inverter
- Ground mounted solar framing
Project Outcome:
They have since expanded the solar and given us feedback that they loved our work and that we were easy to deal with.
