Brian ‘BT’ Taylor Goes Offgrid

Objective:

Brian & Tania purchased an existing off grid home on the Great Ocean Road, but the existing off grid system on the property was too small for their needs and had to be replaced.

Speaking to The Herald Sun in March 2019, Brian said “We are already running out of electricity because we are guzzlers. We are totally off the grid, not connected at all. It is our first try at such a thing. It has taken a bit of getting used to because I like guzzling power with all sorts of technical pieces. We are going to update the system so we get a bit more power.”

Site Considerations:

The existing equipment needed to be decommissioned and removed to make space for the new system installation, and a new equipment room was built to house the batteries and inverters. Some additional trenching was also required.
