Objectives & Site Considerations:
Pila Nguru supports the Spinifex People’s aspirations for cultural and natural heritage management by facilitating the intergenerational transfer of cultural knowledge.
The new Spinifex Land Management Centre and Ranger Station needed an off-grid system to supply its power needs. The Centre included accommodation buildings, offices, seed storage and lab facilities, and training/conference rooms.
The original off-grid system installation was completed in June 2021, and in 2022 when a new management team came in it was decided to relocate the system to a separate dedicated, climatised shipping container to increase system performance and promote its longevity.
Load Analysis:
Average summer demand: 60kWh/day
Average winter demand: 45kWh/day
System Design:
Project Outcome:
At the time of system relocation, spare roof and battery cabinet space was identified for a system expansion to meet higher power and energy needs.
Average summer demand: 71kWh/day
Average winter demand: 48kWh/day
Demand surge: 21kW
