PROJECT DETAIL
Objective:
Lobethal Rd Wines were expanding their winery but couldn’t rely on their existing old off grid system, which was too small and fading fast.
They wanted to install a new off grid system at the new shed site once built and connect the off-grid system to both the winery processing sheds and the house. With allowances in the system design for future expandability as the winery grows.
While some of the winery processing equipment requires 3 phase power, it will only be used for a couple of months a year. So, a 3 phase generator would be installed to power these loads, in order to keep the standalone power system to single phase.
Installation of the solar panels would be on the new shed roof.
Site Considerations:
With the original battery bank already failing, and the new sheds yet to be built, the Lobethal Rd Wines team needed an urgent and cost-effective short-term solution until the larger system was installed.
Off-Grid Energy was able to provide Lobethal Rd Wines with a rental battery bank during this period.
Load Analysis:
Average summer demand: 11.04kWh
Average winter demand: 10.92kWh
Demand surge: 7.2kW
System Design:
- Selectronic SP Pro SPMC482 Inverter Charger
- BYD BBox LV Pro Batteries (13.8kWh)
- Trina 310W solar modules (9.3kW)
- Fronius Primo 8.2 solar inverter
- Select.Live system monitoring
Project Outcome
After the system was installed, Lobethal Rd Wines decided to upgrade the system to 3 phase power, and included with this a 27.5kWh battery expansion.
