Objectives & Site Considerations:
Robert & Sue had their original system installed with us in March 2015, and when they decided to build another home on the same property they contacted us to provide a new off-grid system to power it.
The old system would be left in place on the shed to continue to power the original Beetaloo Grove Cottage – now available for hire as a Bed and Breakfast here: beetaloogrove.com.au/accommodation
Original installation details:
Outback VFX3048 with Flexmax MPPT regulator, VRLA batteries, and LG solar panels. Original system was designed for 1.54kWh summer, 1.4kWh winter, with a design surge of 1.8kW. The customer had supplied their own batteries (ex Telstra batteries, Yuasa VRLA).
Load Analysis:
Average summer demand: 8.9kWh
Average winter demand: 8.9kWh
Demand surge: 4.5kW

Project Outcome:
It’s amazing how far technology had developed in the seven years between installations on this property. The progress of lithium-ion chemistry for home batteries meant that Robert & Sue could install battery storage for six times the amount of usage, in a quarter of the physical space.
